Sunday Worship

9:15am | 8501 E FM 917 Alvarado, TX 76009

Our church gathers for worship in a small white chapel where people have been worshiping together for over 130 years. When you walk through our front doors the first thing you should expect is a warm welcome and a hug from our greeters. We are a very loving, close-knit community and you will be welcomed as such. You will be given a bulletin and can take a seat wherever you like.

Our Lord’s Day worship begins at 9:15am and our final benediction is given before 10:30am. Please utilize your bulletin to follow along with worship as we recite creeds, prayers, and responsive readings each week. We follow a historic liturgy for worship most easily represented by the “Five C’s.” These are: Call (God inviting us into worship), Confession (confessing our need for God’s grace), Consecration (preparing/equipping for God’s work), Communion (The Lord’s Supper), Commission (being sent out to light up the darkness).

There is no standard dress code for worship - God would have us come as we are, but also “let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.” (Hebrews 12:28-29)

We love children! ”Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward.” (Psalm 127:3) They are the future of the church. We want our children to worship with us and to see their parents singing, praying, and receiving instruction. We provide guided sermon notes pages for older children, and activities/crayon packs for younger children if they are needed. We have a room set up for nursing mothers in the fellowship hall if you choose to use it. You can also bring rowdy toddlers over to the fellowship hall for a respite if needed. Although, the sounds of children are expected in the sanctuary, and we receive them gladly as signs of God’s blessing on our church to have growing families! There is a time before the sermon for the children to come up and receive a short lesson designed for them. Our church service is relatively short in order to better accommodate families with young children.
